Antibacterials
Mediflum Water Soluble Powder
Each gr MEDIFLUM Water Soluble Powder contains 500 mg Flumequine.
PHARMACOLOGICAL PROPERTIES
Flumequine is a synthetic chemotherapeutic antibiotic of the fluoroquinolone drug class commonly used in veterinary medicine to treat bacterial infections. It is mainly active against Gram negative bacteria. Fluoroquinolone antibiotics target bacterial DNA gyrase, an enzyme that reduces DNA strain during replication. Because DNA gyrase is required during DNA replication, subsequent DNA synthesis and ultimately cell division is inhibited. It kills bacteria by interfering with the enzymes that cause DNA to unwind and duplicate. Flumequine is considered to be well absorbed and is excreted in the urine and feces as the glucuronide conjugates of the parent drug and 7-hydroxyflumequine. It is eliminated within 168 hours post-dosing.

For the treatment of Colibacillosis (E. coli infections), Pasteurellosis (Chicken cholera), Salmonellosis and respiratory and gastrointestinal infections caused by flumequine sensitive bacteria in broilers and turkeys.
